About Me

Hi fellow knitters! I am a knitting instructor and designer from Leesburg, Virginia. I’ve always been the artsy type and was a fine arts major in college. From there I went back to school to get a degree in Speech Language Pathology and worked for a decade in the field.

I was excited to discover the fiber arts in the early years of raising a son with special needs and two daughters. I started out as a quilter but one day on a long train ride, a dear friend taught me to knit. From there I learned from books, the internet, and anyone I could find who could teach me something new. Knitting quiets my mind and nourishes my soul.

Over the years, I have stitched my way through some good times and rough times. My son is now a young adult with medical issues that require me to spend many hours at home caring for him. With both daughters launched and a wonderfully supportive husband, life affords me windows of time to do what I love most.

This means not only knitting, but teaching classes at my LYS and KnitChats.com, an online community that provides virtual help and classes in real time to knitters around the globe. When I get the opportunity, I enjoy designing my own patterns. My inspiration can start with a gorgeous skein of hand dyed yarn, an interesting stitch pattern, or a desire for something for myself or someone I love. I am blessed to be able to learn and share my craft with this wonderful community.
